There are many reason I don't play WoW:

I don't want to be an example of a lousy girl player--because I'm not good now, obviously, and I'll never invest enough time to be good, that's for damn sure, and if I can't be excellent, be a paragon, be a--a--a credit to my gender, then I don't want to detract from the reputations of women who play well and care passionately about the game.
Ugh, but that's a nasty bit of social conditioning, the nastier for the fact that I want to think I'm overreacting and can't be sure that I am.
