yuletide reveal
Jan. 1st, 2005 02:54 pmSo, I wrote a Hitchhiker story called Last Man Standing.
The request I was fulfilling was as follows: "Arthur/Ford slash makes me happy, especially when it contains smart as remarks about why Ford picked Arthur to be rescued from Earth!"
Which is a good question. Why Arthur? Of everyone on Earth, why would Ford decide to save Arthur?
Hitchhiker is not a fandom where you can just say "twue wuv" and get away with it. People don't get happy endings in Hitchhiker. Bad things happen to good people. Bad things happen to bad people. Bad things happen to morally indifferent people. The problem is, good things aren't absurd enough to be funny.
Calamity is universal.
Or, possibly, Ford has been cursed with abysmally bad luck.
