Yuletide letter
Dec. 24th, 2007 08:33 pmDear
yuletide santa:
My goal was to give you a couple of detailed bunnies to use if you chose and the freedom to run off in any other direction that grabbed you, in each of the four fandoms I selected. I know I failed a little bit in Scrubs--sorry, I don't have any Scrubs plotbunnies. I tried to avoid putting down things I didn't like, because personally, that kind of thing is like catnip for me. I once participated in a ficathon where my recipient asked that I not write Book from Firefly/Captain Jack Harkness and I never would have before but I was so tempted in that moment. I think quite possibly I gave longer requests than was needed, so I am not sure what information to add here now.
Have fun! I can't wait to read what you write for me.

- I like:
- snarky, in-character humor
- plot
- slash
- poly (if it seems right to you: my brain just did an odd backflip trying to figure out who Tom and Carl would have a threesome with, and I'm not sure there is anyone, and that's okay for them)
- dialogue
- grammer and speling! Ahem.
- long stories (no pressure! *laughs* My definition of long is actually anything over the 5,000 mark. I don't get there that often myself.)
- het
- gen
- sib 'cest/pseudocest (Deb and Dexter? Definitely some potential for badwrong there. If you wanna play with that.)
- in-character crackfic (penguins, mpreg, genderswitch, bodyswap, etc etc etc--as long as the characters still sound like themselves, run with it!)
- in-character AUs (...I always go to Age of Sail as an example of the AU, and I don't even know why, it's not as if I watch any of the realistically Age of Sail shows like Hornblower. But Age of Sail Dexter is just cracking me up right now. Age of Sail Young Wizards would probably involve burning people at the stake, Age of Sail Vorkosigan would probably reference the Cetagandan Napoleon, and I think Scrubs might have had a canonical Age of Sail moment or two. Hi. Sorry. Feel free to ignore all that Age of Sail stuff. There are other kinds of AUs. Dexter in Space! Scrubs in Ancient Egypt! Young Wizards in a world where wizardry is common knowledge! Vorkosigan on a Barrayar whose Age of Isolation never ended! Character X made a life-changing decision ze didn't make in canon! Everything is the same, except there's dragons! Put it in a blender, set on high.)
- also, close-canon stuff. I feel the need to add that so you don't suddenly feel compelled to follow along with the gazillion gallons of AU stuff. Seriously. That's an "if you want to." That's not a must.
- conflict
- spectacle
- excitement
- musicals
- things that pass the DTWOF test! Which should be real easy for you since I requested a sum total of one woman out of four fandoms. Oops. Yeah, you probably shouldn't feel constrained to be better about that than the source fandom.
Have fun! I can't wait to read what you write for me.
