So I did I cut of Bad Romance and got it down from 4:55 to 3:34 and sent it off to grey_bard to listen to, but it occurs to me that this could probably benefit from a listener who's not familiar with the ah, canonical shifts in the song. Would anyone who's NOT listened to Lady Gaga's Bad Romance like to take a listen to this edit (6.4mb mp4 file with sound only) and play spot the cut?

Well, it cut off rather abruptly at the end mid-syllable but I don't think that's what you meant. I would say from a strictly musical construction point the sort of bridge shift at 0:55 "You know that I want you" comes early, but I think it all sounds fairly seamless.

FYI this is the second time I have heard this song - the first is that sionnain just made a Hard Core Logo vid a few days ago to this song, and one of my comments was that I thought she should have cut the song because it was way too long. :-)

I like the official vid better than I like the song itself and am in fact vidding the video. It's made cutting it interesting, because stuff I'd cut based on sound, I want to leave in for the particular sequence it's associated with.

...and the 0:55 shift is canonical. *laughs*

Did you cut a break before the "Walk, walk, fashion baby" part? That's the only part that feels sliiiiightly skippy to me.

I considered it and I may yet, but the cut is actually right before the rah rah, ooh la la segment just before walk walk fashion baby.

I have never heard it in its entirety until a week ago Friday, at which point I heard it three times on the radio in two hours. *g* My favorite time was when it was followed up by Rihanna's "Disturbia" for a "disturbing love lyrics, processed voice, nonsense syllables in the chorus" two-parter.
