FIRED, OH MY GOD, ALL OF YOU, FIRED

There appears to be a French graphic novel adaptation of Warrior's Apprentice.

YOU GUYS. VISUAL SOURCE.

SOMEONE KILL ME IN THE FACE NOW.

ETA: I MAY HAVE PURCHASED IT. AND ALSO A COUPLE OF THE NOVELS IN FRENCH. DAMN YOU AMAZON.FR. Because what I really deeply need is to reacquaint myself with a foreign language by reading books I've memorized, for a ridiculous I don't even want to talk about it price.

I will say I like a lot of the French covers better. OH MY GOD I DO NOT NEED TO COLLECT THE SET.

There is a French-speaking country a little closer than France.

Perhaps the shipping would be cheaper?

The US$ doesn't buy much up here anymore, but books in Canada are still priced as if the old exchange rates were still in effect. Very annoying.

What is it about covers from other countries that are so much better than the ones we get here? Lek has mentioned before that he'd like to have the Japanese releases of the Jedi Quest novels because the covers are so much nicer than the English language releases.

IMHO, the cover of A Civil Campaign with the foil and the butterbugs and the red and blue outfits and the pink dress was actually the worst cover I have ever seen on a sci fi novel. It's like they WANTED to alienate every possible kind of readership.

Baen does not do good covers any more, largely due to lack of budget I suspect. But I still have no explanation for A Civil Campaign's cover, it was really just that much more awful.

(I own the original Gutierrez for the cover of The Warrior's Apprentice. It's a shame they can't afford artists of his calibre anymore...)

Ironically, that is the first Bujold novel I ever read, and I picked it up because of the cover. JUDGE ME IF YOU MUST.

It read very strangely! But well!

I have read the entire series completely out of order. IIRC I started something like this: A Civil Campaign (shiny foil cover), Cordelia's Honor (Shards of Honor + Barrayar) (also shiny foil cover), Komarr...

The last volume I read was, of course, the collected Young Miles. Right.

I need to hear all about it when you read it! The graphic novel, not the translations.

As someone who owns two graphic novels of the unfinished C.J. Cherryh's Gate of Ivrel graphic novel series, I feel ya. At least mine aren't French.
