So when I started writing The Love Story of John Winchester and Bobby Singer, As Told By Sam, one of the driving questions was "How would John's gay sex life screw with Dean's daddy issues?" The answer involved Dean pasting tv-style heteronormativity onto "we're different because we're Hunters" and arriving at an equilibrium where he tried to recreate John's relationship fuck-ups as normal and rationalized.

Then everysecondtuesday blew the equilibrium out of the water and wrote a story where Dean is just broken and manages to break everyone around him--just like John Winchester. Her story is called Möbius Strip and is arguably the inevitable outcome of mine.

Thank you for the rec! I think my fic makes a good argument for an inability on my part to remix in the same tone as the original (Remix Redux will be interesting!). The funny thing is that in the beginning, I was interested in the Bobby/John Castiel/Dean parallels, but by the end, I was interested in SamSamSam and his need for stability.
