Bran (the first media drive I had, which is now the traveling slut drive and four years old) had another breakdown. One of the pins on the power connection was bent and broke when nshoe tried to straighten it. However, nshoe put Bran's brains in another enclosure! This will be zir third. It's temporary and involves tape.

Can haz Bran via USB now, at least. I have heart for nshoe.

We have no idea how it managed to bend the way it did and as fully as it did, but it presumably happened in transit: it worked fine when Teresa had it at work, when I attempted to hook it up, it turned out to have a bent pin that could not be unbent.

Really, just... Bran was so named for a reason. Which, okay, you don't know the story/universe zir namesake is from, but: Bran is an uncommunicative bitch who changed zir body/outsides. And also, an asshole. :P

Say, you wouldn't happen to know where I could track down an appropriate power supply cable would you? Nothing we had around the house matched voltage/amperage.

Oh dear.

I'll have a look and see if I can locate either a) another power brick that should work, or b) an enclosure with a power supply built into it. I know they exist.
