Read my brain

Somewhere or another there was a meme re: posting your favorite characters in ten fandoms and inviting your friends/subscribers to psychoanalyze you look for patterns in your picks. Instead I submit: ten pairings I really like. In no particular order.

T'Pol/Archer, Enterprise
Garak/Bashir, DS9
Chuck/Casey, Chuck
Gibbs/Tony, NCIS
Delta/JD, Howling (for those playing at home, that's a Ba'al clone and Jack's wee clone, in an AU of Stargate)
Grant/Justin, Cyteen (and very much in that order)
Roy/Hughes, Fullmetal Alchemist
Vlad/Kiera, Taltos novels
Leon/D, Petshop of Horrors
Dexter/Deb, Dexter

Well, flist? What can you discern? (I see: a high concentration of spies, a number of human/non-human pairings, and a gosh-awful amount of 2/3 of a threesome.)

Actually, I believe the particular iteration of this meme started as "pick your 10 absolutely favorite couples/pairings" and then shifted to "favorite characters". That was progression I saw, at least.

Uh, patterns...my brain is not up to pattern recognition at the moment, sorry. *g*

One pattern I can see, at least in the pairings I'm familiar with is a high degree of snark, and a tendency not to be particularly affectionate - at least not in public.

show their love through snark

I meant in a conventional sense. I started to say something like 'a tendency to use snark as a way of showing their affection', then I changed my mind, because the snark can be directed at everyone.
