Fic: Yuletide reveal

Here are the four stories I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide, in the order I wrote them:

Seven Stories, Witches of Karres by James Schmitz. Once upon a time, there was a parking attendant at the Havenport shipyards at Nikkeldepain who lost his job because the governor's yacht went mysteriously missing on his watch, but that is another story for another time. Written for [livejournal.com profile] niqaeli, whose request I finangled getting because I am a HUGE dork. Have spent the past several weeks biting my tongue. Hee.

Brother's Keeper, Dexter (tv). "He's not even your real kid, I am," Deb said. "And if you think this lame trip to the mall makes up for everything--"

Deep With the First Dead Lies London's Daughter, Torchwood. The first name Jack Harkness ever called Ianto by was morbid fucker.

Please Discuss Only Approved Topics With Your AI, Eureka. "Oh, God, I get it," said Zoe. "Everything she knows about being gay she learned from the internet. This explains so much."

I became more and more desperate for titles as the franticness increased. My [livejournal.com profile] 3_ships title is a complete joke. Just sayin'.

Happy Yuletide, all!

You're adorable, you know.

*twirls you*

re: Seven Stories -- Dude, this fandom sounds cool. Books?

re: Brother's Keeper -- Shiny! I've read the books, but I seriously need to see the show, omg.

re: DWtFDLLD -- Niiiiice. Damn, Jack. Yeah.

re: PDOATWYAI -- My favorite!!! Bwahahahhahahhaha, that's awesome. Yay, Eureka! Poor Fargo, awww. This story makes me happy. There needs to be more Eureka fic.

Hee! *hugs you*

Seven Stories--yeah, one book, Witches of Karres, by James Schmitz; one sequel by committee, Wizard of Karres by Mercedes Lackey, Eric Flint, and Dave Freer.

re: Brother's Keeper, the story I wrote probably could have been set in either the books or the show, but yes, you should watch the show, it's awesome.

re: Dreallylongacronym, Jack will not hush. Runs around in my head constantly.

re: Preallylongacronym, heeeeeee. You should totally suggest to [livejournal.com profile] niqaeli that there should be more Eureka fic, and possibly mention that Zoe is black.

The sad thing is I really did suspect it was you from your anonymous comment (you have a very distinctive 'voice' as yourself). And yet I couldn't quite believe the world is that tiny. And yes you are a gigantic freaking dork. And I love you dearly.

Oh my god, shush you! I have enough things in my head and Eureka needs to be quiet so I can write some of the fifty billion others *down*!

My calculations in tossing one of your fandoms into my sign-up was that either the world was not that small, and someone else would sign up for one of your fandoms and I'd be off the hook--or the world (ie your fandoms) really were that small, and I'd rather be a dork than have the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide mods come by and ask if you could request something in a slightly less-small fandom. Everyone should get what they wish for for yuletide :-)

And I knew making that comment was a bad idea (for all I knew, you had IP address tracking on, even) but I. Well. Biting my tongue for WEEKS. You! With the "here, read my adored fandoms I happened to request for yuletide" and the "eee I have the awesomest story I can't show you yet because I didn't make you read that book yet"! So CUTE. Biting my TONGUE.

*hugs you*

I was getting that thing beta'd in one IM window while chatting with you in another. Biting my tongue, yes, but also SKATING the EDGE of getting caught for weeks.

I am a TOTAL dork. And I love you too.

*snicker*

Oh, you're going to HATE me when I finish your Christmas present.

My fandoms really are that small. Like, they're non-existent. I *AM* the fandom. And that was very sweet of you.

And OMG, you are a DORK and you were completely skating the edge. IM mixups happen so often!

And BTW: as far as tracking goes, I only IP track anonymous commenters so while your IP did show, it couldn't be attached to you readily. :P

*snickers* I terminally lose at the secrecy aspect of yuletide. EVERYONE knows what freaking fandoms I'm writing in, and LAST YEAR? When I attempted to anon-comment to my recipient, I FAILED. I did it signed in.

At least I kept you wondering?

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2007-01-01 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
*snickers* If you'd poked at it hard, it would have been revealed as local, and you'd have had to go OH WHAT THE FUCK at me.

*dying*

Yeah see but that would require me to care. I only track anon-comments for informational purposes in case someone ever asshats at me anonymously. :)

Hahahaha, bravo.

And yes, I wondered for an entire week so you didn't completely lose at yuletide secrecy. :)

And now I am going to go get some brunch. Hungry!

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2007-01-01 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my God. I have been poking at my flist and it is NOT JUST US. [livejournal.com profile] elke_tanzer and [livejournal.com profile] flambeau also had coincidences. I TELL YOU [livejournal.com profile] astolat futzed the matching program!

For two years running [livejournal.com profile] verstehen and [livejournal.com profile] saeva got each other. Which kinda blows, really, I mean. It sort of rubs in how tiny your fandoms are when the only person they match you to is your best friend.

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2007-01-01 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Snerk. So I shouldn't Do This Again?

[personal profile] niqaeli 2007-01-01 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggles* Nah, you're allowed. I just need to also start conniving to get more people into my non-existent fandoms so you don't have to. :)

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2007-01-01 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll never be able to do it sneakily again, though, will I. You'll be suspicious next year!

[personal profile] niqaeli 2007-01-01 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You'll just have to get more elaborate in your misdirection much as Merryish wrote a fake-out story to throw flambeau off her trail. :P

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2007-01-01 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
...I TOTALLY took pinch-hits to have a yuletide to bitch about!

And then failed to not mention they were pinches. *wince*
