Friends' list cut

I just removed about 50 people from my friendslist (and it is not noticeably shorter, being goddamn long). If you were cut, it was because I made a post to one of my filters asking the people on that filter to comment to confirm that they read me (I'm not going to cut anyone who wants to read me unless they're horribly offensive or underage, since this is a friends-only journal and me defriending you keeps you from reading me). The people on that filter who did NOT comment, whom I therefore assumed aren't actually reading this journal, were cut.

If you were cut in error--you missed the entry skimming, or you were on vacation that week and not reading lj, or I screwed up my list, or whatever--comment here to be added back.

I didn't see your cutting people off your list entry ... and I checked, and I can't see it. :(

I hope this means you're not cutting me.

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You were cut. The reason you can't see it right now is you're not friended at all, let alone on a specific filter. But I'll put you back on.

[identity profile] devinjay.livejournal.com 2004-04-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh.

Um, if you need to cut me, because there's too much to read, that's okay. I was just curious. I don't like being cut, but I'll cut people without telling them if I feel like it, so I think it's nice of you to tell people that you're cutting them.

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-10 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I use filters to set up my reading lists. I don't defriend people who want to read me, since my journal is most friends-only and that would keep them from reading me.

[identity profile] devinjay.livejournal.com 2004-04-10 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well, in that case - please don't defriend/unfriend me, so I can read your journal. :)

Thanks.

[identity profile] absolutefreeze.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hurt.
Haven't we been chatting the past week through comments...
Plus I've only got a short 'friends of' list as it is...please put me back on...

Did the guilt trip work?

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Guilt trip not necessary. "Hi" works as well.

[identity profile] thermidor.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey! I was out of town visiting my Mom & then starting a new job so I've been away from LJ for a few weeks (except for making a few "yes I am alive posts") but I *do* enjoy reading your LJ.
I'd like to be added back.
Sorry I missed the poll!

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations on the new job! Have added you back.

[identity profile] methought.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Since I was able to read this post, I'm assuming I wasn't cut and can remain a lurker/reader and voyeur of Peter Wingfield!

By the way--did you ever discover the origin of "hour-glass figure"?

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Since I was able to read this post,

This post wasn't locked. Because that's the only way I could leave a message to people I cut.

Putting you back on.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/oceana_/ 2004-04-08 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi!
I'm reading. Just not at the moment, because for the past two months (and the next two weeks) I have almost no internet access. But I'm reading, and I love your Methos-y stuff. I have found the Methos love very late, but better late than never.
So, if you'd re-friend me, that'd be nice. Cause I thought I noticed some locked posts with fannish stuff. No pressure, of course, if you don't want to, I guess I#LL have to live with that. *sniff* ;-)

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Added you back.

[identity profile] leetal.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I do read, actually, but if you have too many people on your list, it's fine if you want to remove me, I'm not offended, really.

[identity profile] leetal.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks :)

[identity profile] blueraccoon.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
apropos of nothing, as I believe I commented (even if I didn't, you *know* I read you, dork), but...

*boobiesquish* miss me last night?

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Silly. Yes, I know you read me; you weren't even on the filter I asked to confirm.

Did you get my snippety bippet?

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
and *boobiesquish* Yes I missed you.

[identity profile] blueraccoon.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
*kisses* Yes, I read the bippety snippet.

"Ripper!" Ethan walked into the Magic Box as if he owned it, arms spread wide. "How lovely to see you again!"

"Ethan. Wish I could say the same." Gile gave him an even look and returned to sorting new merchandise.

"Can't I just beat him up and dump him somewere?" Buffy asked, glaring at him.

"Fraid not, darling. Not as long as I have this." Ethan drew the amulet out from under his shirt.

She smiled tightly and shifted into a fighting stance. "That's easy enough to fix."

"Not really," Adam commented, looking up from the table. "It has to be worn by a chaos wielder or things could get nasty." He shrugged. "I suppose I could wear it, but I'd rather not, all things considered."

(so how much does that suck?)

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't suck! Though we should figure out our POV, so we know whether we're calling him Methos or Adam (since I called him Methos. But I also called Giles Giles, so I probably wasn't in Methos-POV).

What happens if Methos wears it? Does he start wearing leather pants?

[identity profile] blueraccoon.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
If Methos wears it...I have no idea. I just had a thought like "hm. chaos meets the Oldest Living Person on the Planet. this could be Very Bad." And I think Methos thought so too. Especially since he's not a follower of Chaos the way Ethan is; he's just inherently chaotic due to being Immortal.

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I am going to bug you about this the way you bugged me about the results of the spell if it goes *wrong.*

Hey, they could be interrelated. Because the spell requires the amulet, sans Ethan, in the center of the diagram. So there's a danger that it could suck the power out of Methos, since he opened a vein and put his power in the spell, and become a Great Force Of Something. Which is probably the inverse of what would happen if Methos wore it without opening a vein; he would suck the power out of it?

[identity profile] absolutefreeze.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
So I gotta ask...how many ppl did you actually cut...'specially after all these ppl wanted back on...=-)

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I think fifty was almost exactly accurate (maybe 51 or 52? I also defriended a deleted journal and someone who started a hate-thread) so now it's down to 46 cut, I think.

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Been busy all week, barely skimming posts, but still enjoy reading you:)

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2004-04-10 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Slaps self upside the head (blame the jury duty and yeah:) I'm frazzled and seriously behind!!

[identity profile] teot.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Even though I don't always have time to read my friends list, and probably miss a lot of posts, I do like to read you. Please add me.

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Okay.

[identity profile] elrond50.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I missed that post. I read your Lj just don't comment often.

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Added you back.

[identity profile] quiva.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi! Never saw the filter (but I've been ill).

Evidently, I've been cut. I'd like to come back.

I promise I'll be a better friend...

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Added back.

[identity profile] apathocles.livejournal.com 2004-04-10 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't see the filtered post -- I've been skimming a lot of my friendslist in general lately, since I don't really have time to keep up, either. I keep on meaning to cut mine back, but I'm never sure quite where to start.

So, I'm thinking that I may as well start here, since we're both in a position to understand the other's reason for defriending, and not feel offended by it. Amicable break-up sound good to you? ;)

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-04-10 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Fine. See you around.

[identity profile] leld.livejournal.com 2004-06-19 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I only recently regained regular access to internet; I totaly missed that posting. I do read your journal, and enjoy it, when I get the chance.

[identity profile] jmtorres.livejournal.com 2004-06-19 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Welcome back :)
