I got rec'd this a few years back, and I was lied to!!! OK, so there are dinosaurs and like ONE pretty person, but it is SOOOOO HORRIFYINGLY BAD! I had the first 3 seasons and AFTER 3 episodes I had to DELETE ALL of it.
Someone made a vid about (in my head they names are still) Awesome Woman, Generic Dude 1 and Generic Slightly Prettier Dude 2! Also it has time travel which is usually a bulletproof kink for me!
Huh. I concede your point as I think I was lured in by the fabulous false advertising. But! It is so terrible. I'd know my favorite comedy is Happy Gilmore.
It probably does not help that the first episode I saw was the one from, umm, series 2, with the giant worm monsters and the fog? Which I gather has bad effects even by the standard of the rest of the show.
There are also giant sand crabs, giant spiders, giant centipedes, and you could make a decent argument for the mammoth being a giant elephant.
No, no, you can't, as far as I can tell, go into it expecting things other than ridiculousness from the dinosaurs. The soap opera on the other hand... well, that is kind of ridiculous too. Even so.
Please tell me what episode this is so I can make extra-certain to NEVER WATCH IT. (Seriously, I just watched Return of the King, and I had to spend the entire Shelob scene with my face pressed into zana16's shoulder whispering "Is it over yet? Is it? Is it?")
If you're going to do that, please cut-tag them for the sake of those of us who do, actually, enjoy the show -- yes, including the first three seasons.
I don't understand, are you saying it gets better after three seasons? Because honestly I'm sitting at 2.6 going do I really want to continue on to what I know, I have seen a cast list, is regularly rotating mayhem and people I care about a lot are going to start dying/being erased/I guess maybe just leaving? soon and the last show that did that to me I was watching as it aired so it took me a while to realize the pattern of STOMP YOUR HEART OUT and uh.
ETA: I mean, yes, I will be cut-tagging, no obligation to read my remarks, sorry to have thrown them at you when you don't want to be exposed to my squee-harshing.
Edited (right, i should actually listen to what people want from me.) 2011-07-07 15:38 (UTC)
Thanks for the cut-tagging. I really appreciate it.
It's not a matter of the quality of the show -- I'm working on finishing up a very long sequence of fanfics and I need to be able to stay in my head with the version of things I've constructed while I'm doing it. I've written three so far, and am working on the fourth and fifth, all of them interlocking. They're semi-AU, in that I think that when Helen "changes things" she's actually isolating Cutter in a parallel universe, not in the same one with a different timeline. And that affects everyone and everything else. But I won't bore you with that.
I love "I watch/read/endure the pain so you don't have to" stuff. I can glory in the "what the hell" and enjoy your suffering from the comfort of my couch. I am a bad, bad person.
