Dresden Files #5, Deathmasks, has Harry meeting the two other Knights of the Cross, and finds them startlingly less gung-ho Christian than his good buddy Michael. In fact, one of them doesn't identify as Christian at all. Sanya says he's atheist, and when Harry, boggled, points out he just said the archangel Michael gave him his sword, Sanya amends that he is agnostic. And Harry is like, "HOW?" To which Sanya is like, "Well, it could have been a hallucination. I could just be crazy."

It's good to have skepticism. I think. I know I do.

I love that bit. I think at some point he says he could have been given the sword by aliens or something, too. Sanya is one of my favorite characters in that series.

That's an entirely reasonable response, I think.

I mean, he could totally just be crazy. The fact that he's got a magic sword doesn't actually mean that he got it from an archangel. Coulda been something else claiming to be an archangel. Coulda just dreamt up a delusion to try and explain it, since it IS a magic sword. You never know!

That's pretty awesome, though, that the others AREN'T super gung-ho Christian.

Yeah, that happens. I managed to read the whole series mostly unspoiled except for a few things (...despite having read a fair amount of fic for it beforehand?), and would recommended avoiding further spoilers as much you can do so.

Heh. Personally I thinking knowing about Thomas before Harry has *greatly* increased my enjoyment of him, so I'm not gonna sweat anything else I get spoiled for.
