Taking my car in for service tomorrow, partly in re: roadtrip for Memorial Day Weekend. Obvs I want the whole car to be in good working order for a road trip, but is there anything in particular I should be asking the mechanic to look at?

Tell them that you're taking it on a long distance drive and ask them to tell you anything you should know/do based on what they learn during the service. They're the experts; make them do the work.

What Copracat says -- also you can ask for a general safety inspection.

What others have said. Maybe have them check the brakes specifically, but a general safety inspection re: long-distance road trip will take a look at them.
