So what you're saying is,
Gotham is a city whose population is divided into lower class and upper-upper class, with no bourgeoisie and a lot of people so frustrated with their inability to cross the class divide that they turn to lives of crime.

Also, I don't know if you're in the US, but the US census data is starting to come out and *man*, the middle class is super low, percentage-wise.
