stabbed in the womb

So in the long saga of Supernatural women who die of either fire or being stabbed in the womb, we've caught a couple of exceptions in the season two finale two-parter, All Hell Breaks Loose. The lesbian is not stabbed or set on fire! She is hanged from the neck until dead. Ava is also not stabbed or set on fire! Jake snaps her neck. Lots of necks for girls in this episode.

On the other hand, there is one person in here who dies of stabbing. That would be Sam. And because he lacks a womb, he has to be taken from behind.

Don't forget the witch demon in MM - she was stabbed from behind. Repeatedly. With several short, fierce motions. It was ... um.

I maintain that my stabbed in the womb thing is TOTALLY TRUE - if you look at recurring characters. And appearing in a two-parter is not recurring.

Non-recurring women die any which way.

Though examples of recurring women who don't die in this way are honestly welcomed. If I'm wrong I want to know.

That is, women who A) Had lines in at least two separate episodes and B) Did not die in fire or wombstab or both.

So far all I've got is Bela for other methods of death (obvious Her Death Was Telegraphed From Day One reasons) and Becky (and now Lisa) for not actually dead yet.

So, so far the count is Ava and Bela for other methods of death and Becky (and now Lisa) for not actually dead yet.

Hm. Now I will speculate on what the factors are that have overwhelmed the usual default punishment for daring to recur while female in their particular cases.

My working theories - Ava and Bela being used as highly specific mirrors for Sam and Dean and thus the narrative logic of that overwhelming the usual ending, Lisa is a dead woman walking and Becky lives because DUDE. Don't kill Fandom Embodied, or fandom will EAT YOU ALIVE.

What are your thoughts?

(IMDBs) Yes. You're right.

Please keep that tally going, I'll be extremely interested to see the stats when you're done. Both those that fit the pattern and those that don't.
