innuendo

Quoting a brief passage of the film.

Gypsy woman: ...china figurines, and augh, lace doilies!
Holmes: Mmm, doilies.
Watson: Lace... doilies. Holmes, does your depravity know no bounds!?

Wow, is it just me or did they do something totally kinky with lace doilies?

But lace doilies are so emblematic of domestic life! Unless you are a depraved fiend, of course, and are using the term 'lace doilies' as referring to 'antimacassars' -- in the well known protective capacity of this article-- that is 'protecting the furniture from being stained by the popular hair dressing, Madagascar Oil, which, (oh the depravity!) has been employed by such depraved individuals as Oscar Wilde in their unspeakable practices. That...unless of course someone is just having their end off punning on Arthur Conan Doyle's name (but what kind of depraved monster would do such a depraved thing?).

Somebody drop a rope and get me out of the 19th century.
