Vividcon vids

I took two vids to Vividcon this year!

1985, right-click and save as. (Link updated 6 March 2019)
fandom: fringe
music: bowling for soup
blurb: the road to hell, paved with, etc.
runtime: 2:49
file size: 46MB mp4
notes: so this is a Walter vid, it's equal parts comic and tragic, I started it three years ago and when I picked it up again this year I went through and had all my Fringe feels all over again. I am totally down for talking about Fringe feels, btw. I understand this vid makes some people have them. (omg, \o/)

The Edge of Glory, right-click and save as. (Link updated 6 March 2019)
fandom: leverage
music: lady gaga
blurb: parker x gravity OTP (but I mean. it's an open relationship.)
runtime: 1:37
file size: 26MB mp4
notes: the theme for Challenge this year was "descent," and when I was poking through my journal for old vid bunnies to see if anything fit the theme, I ran across a mostly joke notion of a vid about Parker jumping off of things. The idea of doing an interpretation that literal cracked me up, so I did it. this is an unsigned copy because Challenge vids are anonymous until the show at Vividcon and because I might never get the thing posted if I wait to when I feel like cranking up Final Cut to add chyron, so, have it as is and maybe I'll edit this post later.

I love this Fringe vid a LOT. SO many Fringe feels! And Walter feels. And Peter and Olivia feels. And just -- all of it.
azurelunatic: The Space Needle by night. Slightly dubious photography. (Default)

... I hadn't realized that that was the year that, etc.

That is perfect Walter.

Confession: I was never a huge fan of Walter the character, though I liked many of the plot points he generated. This vid is great--I love the weird appropriateness of the song and the way you interpreted the lyrics.
seekingferret: Two warning signs one above the other. 1) Falling Rocks. 2) Falling Rocs. (Default)

1985 is such an amazing vid. Oh, Walter, you adorable monster.

Both your vids were such breaths of fresh air this year.

Your challenge vid had me laughing and smiling so big the first time I watched it. The theme could be really dark, and your take on it was so fun. As nice as more metaphorical interpretations are, I love the heck out of literal ones.

I loved your premiere too. The song choice was so unexpected for Fringe but worked so well... The lighthearted song somehow made the tragic parts more tragic in a way? I really need to watch and rewatch Fringe.

I mean, that description does apply to Highway Cafe, Want You Bad, Boy King, and 1985 at least. And I Drink Alone and Industrial strength Tranquilizer totally fall under the same general umbrella, actually. I don't think Long Spear quite qualifies on the humourous song bit, but yeah...

I just discovered the 1985 vid and it's AWESOME. I would never have thought of that song for Walter, but once you do think of it, it's so amazingly perfect. Equal parts comic and tragic, that's Walter all over the place.
