Present tense can be a horror to get through, but I think it would work well with your writing style. <---*actually has nothing constructive to offer*

I don't find present tense that hard to work with, usually--I just say it out loud like I'm speaking conversationally and it pretty much works out--but I had a place or two in this fic where I was trying to decide if contemplation of something that happened two seconds ago warranted the past tense. If I had been writing in the past tense, the same incident probably would not have warranted use of the past perfect, but... I dunno.
