so back when I was contemplating the ill-advised threesome without knowledge of later events, episodes, seasons, I was thinking to myself, what if Alice's reaction was different? Could you spin it into poly, like, the show knows the concept? What if it was something like, "You know, my mother thinks I need a whole group of people to really get me. I don't think I'm that complicated, but maybe you are. 'A lot,' was what she said about you.
