I find that it happens. I think I was in my mid-30s first time. It freaked me out, but when I check in with the obgyn at the next visit - it happens. It's a continuum just like everything else - can happen at any age.
In my 30s it was a random thing and then I noticed it in the summer months. I noticed a correlation with talking Allegra or my allergies. When I switched off to another med, it went away for a long time
In my early 40s it came back and seemed to happen for days and days. Finally I went back on birth control and things got much better. Now I only see it when *ahem* things get exciting. Obgyn found that interesting but not out of the norm. As opposed to the younger days, I find that if I mess up the BC, I'm more likely to start a period early or spot for days. I'm convinced that if I stopped BC now (at 49), I would have an endless period.
In other words, unless you have some other symptoms going on, it doesn't stop or you have other health concerns, you can probably ignore it and just bring it up at your annual.
