boing-boing just pissed me off with the use of the phrase "Tweets were twatted." Gendered insults are not acceptable, mmkay? I understand the urge to mock tweeting but doing so by saying it comes from female genitalia is unacceptable. Does anyone here have a registered account so they can leave a comment that won't be moderated into oblivion?

eta: Ugh. I registered to comment and I really need to stop looking now because I knew this but of COURSE no one can accept "I was offended. Not everybody was or will be but as a woman, I found it offensive, and I'm not the only one" as a reason to just... stop being offensive. No, it's #OFWF and were offended and somebody's wife thinks it's funny and therefore it's okay.

Also... in England, people use that verb to mean beat up/knocked out - you say there was a fight and you t***ed a bloke.

Much like that worst of all possible obscenities, cunt, to which there is no comparably reviled obscenity referring to male anatomy. Neither dick nor prick have the gutpunch for people that cunt does. They're hardly even obscenities, by most people's standards.

Because penises are okay, you know, but vaginas and vulvas aren't. Because only icky women have those.

(This is also why I hate the derogatory use of douchebag and douche. While douching and all that surrounds it is, in fact, horrifying from a medical and feminist standpoint, people are not thinking that deeply. Ew, you're like something that was to touch icky female bits!)
