note to self

If you have to spend fifteen minutes thinking about whether leaving a comment is a good idea, it is probably not.

Argh.

Post in question holds opinion I do not share with particular frustration regarding people who have disagreed with poster in the past on the subject and list of reasons for opinion. I found some of the reasons to have merit but overall disagreed. Since from the post and comments it was apparent to me that the poster really didn't want to talk to anyone who disagreed (or maybe wanted to get in a shouting match and tromp all over anyone who disagreed?) I sort of wanted to leave a comment along the lines of "agree to disagree?" as like, hey look, we're not all verbally abusive asshats just for having that opinion you don't like.

But without content that seemed like a waste-of-time comment, and with content it seemed likely to turn into an argument the likes of which the poster was frustrated with.

So: no comment.

...this sounds like it could be a description of my latest post.

If so: No, I'm happy to listen to reasoned arguments, but that's the difference - a reasoned argument isn't being a verbally abusive asshat.

If not: Eh, I'll take my paranoia elsewhere. ;)

I don't mind if it was about my post, I was just curious.

I'm going to guess it is the people on the *class* board, most of whom have been a non-stop source of frustration.

Which is fair enough - it's just I'd just made a post, which had a couple of comments, followed the format outlined here, and was related to the icon used. So I went "...hmmm...." and had to wonder!

Ahhh, one of those situations. Yeah - I like debates, but when it becomes personal/emotional and people start feeling bad or trying to make people bad, it's no fun.
