DEAR INTERNETS

I am watching Enterprise. I need someone to cackle at because if I don't laugh I'll cry.

ANYONE. ANYONE UP FOR HEARING ABOUT THE PERVERSION OF ALL THINGS VULCAN?

ps I think I might ship Archer/T'Pol. Or something: it might not be shipping? I originally thought that clearly they weren't having sex, they were just best friends ala... Kirk and Spock, so you see why MAYBE I SHIP THEM NOW. I don't even know. They're hilariously bitchy at each other yet trust each other with their lives and family secrets.

I've found myself reluctantly enjoying Enterprise. I've only seen my first eps recently. Well, part episodes. There's other stuff on tv.

It's fun, but not if I imagine it's Star Trek.

I think I feel the same way about Reboot.

An ongoing original fic that I read has a character called Tucker who used to sleep with a character called Travis. This always made watching Enterprise hard for me. Like, even harder than it would have been otherwise.

AUGH! What Enterprise did to the Vulcans was ghastly, and I had to stop watching, because the writers threw their faux Vulcans in my face so often I couldn't appreciate the good things about the show. WTF, writers? Roddenberry must have been spinning in his grave.

I warned you, I thought. Yeah. They retconned the shit out of things and it was horrifying.

(Oh my GOD my keyboard fucking died, I am stuck on N's system this is PAINFUL.)

I am up for cackling because as far as I'm concerned, it's a ridiculous historical holo-novel enjoyed by people in *real* Trek-verse. So I am totally up for hearing about the perversion!

I've been watching s4 all week, and I want to tongue kiss Manny Coto for FIXING THE VULCANS. Because the whole reason I bailed in s1 were Braga's bullshit Vulcans.

Jolene Blalock had the best reaction. She told the mainstream press it was a travesty and an insult and no-one who loves the show should watch it, but to just pretend the show ended with the Peter Weller arc.

I kinda love her. She grew up a hardcore Spock fangirl, and fought Brannon Braga the whole way through to keep T'Pol as Vulcan as possible. Mind you, she lost more often than she won, but God love her for TRYING.

See that, to me, was 1000x better than the emo!Vulcans in s1, and set them back on track to being ACTUAL VULCANS. Because the whole "Well, the Vuclans were younger and more emo and warlike then" explanation of Braga's made NO SENSE as Vulcans live to be 200+ and T'Pol is SAREK'S DAD'S GENERATION. No way Vulcans would "mature" that much in only one generation. Seriously. So the 3 part arc to go "Yes, we know the Vulcans are messed up. We're on it." in s4 worked for me.

yeah--imagine V'Lass as symbolic of Brannon Braga, and T'Pau representing TOS Fandom coming and kicking his ass. With Manny Coto, and Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens on the sidelines, calling plays, while Jolene Blalock and Scott Bakula cheer until they're hoarse..

From what I remember (and I only knew about this cos at the time, I was TV Editor at MSX) when Berman first developed the series, and Jolene was cast, Berman swore to her up one side and down the other T'Pol wouldn't be in a catsuit. And then Braga joined as EP and BLAM! Instand Objectification of the Smart Chick, Just Add Water.

There is a reason DS9 is my fave.

Here are some of the reasons that I ♥ Jolene.

But yeah... Nothing comes close to the pure uncut awesome of the Sisko, for me. Enterprise's mirror universe eps, tho, are totally worth the price of admission. Especially if you watch "The Tholian Web" first.
